SLUG heading to Thunder Creek

This weekend SLUG will be taking part in the Thunder Creek Model Train Show!

This will be our 6th appearance at the show!

We will be showcasing a number of different theme layouts, including:
- Pirates
- Western
- World War 2
- Arctic
- Moonbase

- many different stand-alone displays!

Saturday and Sunday
9am - 5pm
Western Development Museum admission applies

SLUG 2015

Our show season for 2015 began last weekend at the Saskatoon Model Train Show which saw 5700 people pass through it's doors!  10 members took part in the show where we took home the Best Non-Scale award for the fourth year in a row!

Our next show is in Moose Jaw at the Thunder Creek Model Train Show, March 21-22.  Hope to see you there!

Moose Jaw Train Show Round up

2014 saw the Saskatchewan Lego Users Group return to the Thunder Creek Model Train Show in Moose Jaw!  We were unable to attend last year due to adverse weather conditions, but were happy to attend this show once more!

The show saw more than 2000 visitors through the door to see the displays, including our 8' x 36' layout, pluse two tables full of LEGO creations!  We received a good response from those who came to see our work, and were awarded the Best Non-Scale award for our efforts!

BRICKSPO was a SUCCESS!!!

This past weekend was our second annual showcase, BRICKSPO at the Western development Museum in Moose Jaw!  We had a total of 14 builders take part in the show, including two visiting non-members.  Over 350 creations were on display for the over 2400 public visitors!

We ran some events for our attending builders including inaugural 9v Minifig jousting and Wacky Races!  Here is a run-down of our winners:

BRICKSPO Building Challenge!

With 50 days left to go before BRICKSPO, it is time that we announced this year's building challenge!  This will be our group's sixth building challenge (and one of at least 3 at the show) and will be voted on by visitors to the show.  Our 6th challenge is... a ONE COLOUR BUILD challenge!

The idea for this challenge is to build something our of Lego using only one colour.  Whether the creation is a car, or a house, or an abstract sculpture it has to be made using only one colour of Lego elemen...

BRICKSPO!

Our second-annual BRICKSPO is a little over two months away!

This year's show promises to be bigger and better than last year's!  We'll have more attendees at the show with lots of creations to see!  Our builds will span many themes and many scales!

We have a lot of events planned for both attendees and visitors of the show!  There will be opportunities to learn new building techniques and opportunitites to win cool stuff!

Since the cancellation of the Regina Model Train Show this fall, it has been a bit of a continuing 'slow news day' for us as a group.  However, we are looking forward to a number of things we have planned in the next few months!  Here is a quick run-down of some of our upcoming events and programs for the end of 2012 and the beginning of 2013!

We were very fortunate to have a good turn-out for BRCIKSPO this year (1435 people as previously mentioned).  However, we never expected to find ourselves posted on Youtube!
